Rain or Shine
Experience horsepower like it was intended. Featuring the work horse of yesteryear, the Northwestern Michigan Fair offers the beauty, grandeur and sheer force of today’s draft horse and mule. Come see the Belgian, Percheron, Shire, Draft Mule and others. This event has had its share of thrills, chills and even occasional spills. The best part is it’s FREE. There is no admission charge to watch and enjoy these magnificent animals in the comfort of the Grandstands.
This is the one event at the NWM Fair where competitors can come into the fair grounds and register the day of the event, starting at 8:30 am. Animals are shown at Halter, Riding, Hitch (cart and wagon) and timed Event Competitions.
For those that wish to enter animals (Draft Horses, Draft Ponies, Draft Mules, Mules, Donkeys, Miniature Donkey & Horses and Half Draft Crosses) please refer to the Draft Horse & Mule Show Schedule of possible classes. You do not need a fancy show harness or cart, you may use your farm harness and wagon. All ages are welcome to show. You must have a current negative coggins result with you. For more information please call Pam Leach at (231) 267-5070.
